That was my clinical diagnosis yesterday. Not exactly what a guy wants to here with less than month to a half marathon.
The next few weeks of training will be exercise bike based and some strength training in order to keep the muscles in tune and the heart and lungs in shape.
I also went for an xray yesterday to rule out stress fractures. This would be the worst case scenario as it could lead to some significant time off. I'm not sure when I will get the results but I hope I'm not waiting too long.
In the first 4 full weeks of March I logged 101km, significantly less than the 125km logged in February. The biggest change in March was to my new trail shoes, which I ran in a very limited amount but may be the culprit.
It is great that I have a diagnosis from the Doctor but the answer lies in how to correct whatever is causing the issue. Perhaps I will get some solutions when I take a technique clinic next week, and a week in Hawaii can't do my body any harm. Who knows?? Maybe some barefootin on the beach will help.
For now...Run Scared
